Top Tips for Getting Your Intranet into the Christmas Spirit

1. The office Christmas party news and updates
If anyone wants to know anything about your Christmas party, your intranet is where they need to go. From deciding what to do, to managing the event and sharing photos, your intranet can manage all of this. And this year, include some Vlogs. 2018 has been the year of the video update. Instead of a standard word document or microblog describing your works do, try and make a short, snappy video on your phone. It will grab everyone’s attention and a sure way to start your festive intranet!

2. Festive Hi Five
Create an area where colleagues can thank each other for their help and great work well done by giving each other festive Hi Five. A great way to spread good will around the office. We extended ours to the whole year, and it’s been one of the most popular areas on our own intranet. It’s great to get a shout out for all your hard work.

3. Secret Santa
You can’t avoid it, it’s inevitable, but what better place to talk about it than on your intranet?! Who gets the cheeky gift, who always gets the Christmas pudding. Best and worst secret santa gifts are always entertaining. I’m dying to get Nick, our Intranet Success Manager as I’ve seen some lovely beard lights, but shhhhhh, don’t tell him.

4. Advent Calendar
24 days to Christmas virtual advent calendar with interesting company facts, team jokes or did you know interesting facts about each other. Again, try and mix standard content with some video snippets. You could film different people around the office on your phone, telling a factoid or festive joke.

5. Get Some Snow on Your Intranet
It’s almost now come to be expected. Just like the Christmas TV ads, what will our intranet look like this Christmas?! It could be snow, trees or whatever you choose. Christmas images, video and music all generate great engagement. Create your own Elfie Selfie and share it through your intranet.

6. Deck The Halls
Run a festive intranet treasure hunt, hiding images across your intranet and give everyone clues as to where they are. Everyone completes their treasure hunt form and enters a raffle to win a festive prize. It’s another way to encourage exploration of your intranet and great engagement.

7. Christmas Fundraising
Use your intranet to promote and launch a Christmas fundraising event. Whether it be a Christmas bake off, gift collection or an event for a local charity, your colleagues will love the chance to get involved. We always all contribute to the local food bank festive campaign. It’s great to see the collection grow.

8. Christmas Holiday Booking

9. Festive Photo Gallery
Take some photos of every departments decorated area and publish them. Colleagues love a bit of competition and will love to show how festive they are.
