Based in Leyland, United Kingdom, South Ribble Borough Council is located in the non-metropolitan district and borough of Lancashire. In May 2007 the council was officially declared “Excellent” by the Audit Commission, gaining its place among the best five district councils in the country.

South Ribble selected the feature rich SORCE Intranet, to be deployed throughout their organisation. The new Intranet, known as ‘Connect’, will help the council improve communication and streamline business processes. As the source for all job related information, culture and communications, ‘Connect’ will use many of the SORCE standard applications to help quickly deliver these benefits.

SORCE’s easy to use interface and content publishing gadgets will empower individual departments to take ownership of departmental areas, while reducing the burden on IT. Adopting a phased approach, South Ribble will continue to add SORCE applications and functionality to drive their intranet forward. These will deliver additional cost savings by promoting user self service, reducing administration costs and increasing efficiency.
