LuxairGroup chooses a SORCE Intranet
First established in 1948, the Luxembourg Airlines Company would later form the Société Luxembourgeoise de Navigation Aérienne S.A. (Luxair) in 1961. Since then, the Luxembourg national airline has been linking major European economic centres with scheduled flights from Luxembourg, offering package holiday services to destinations in Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa. Having developed further areas of expertise within the passenger and cargo handling businesses over the years, the company recently went through major restructuring and rebranding process of all its activities to form LuxairGroup in 2007.
Luxair Luxembourg Airlines (the scheduled airline), LuxairTours (the tour operator), LuxairServices (passenger and airport assistance and airline catering services) and LuxairCARGO (cargo handling services) bring together a diverse workforce of some 2.500 people within LuxairGroup. With the continuing success of the group, its ability to maintain efficient and accurate communication has become increasingly important. The internally developed intranet was no longer able to deliver the personalised communication experience the business was demanding. After evaluating possible options, LuxairGroup chose the feature rich out of the box SORCE Intranet solution for the group intranet.
The main objectives for the new Intranet are to present the structure of the organisation, provide operational as well as in-depth information and express the corporate values throughout. Other important deliverables are to maintain all policies and procedures and manage the document approval processes.
LuxairGroup’s new intranet, scheduled to go live in the autumn 2008, will ultimately enable the group’s personnel to work together more effectively, independently of their location or the business line they work in. With future enhancements, possibly including a dedicated television channel that will be broadcast across the Intranet, LuxairGroup will be using the flexibility of the SORCE Intranet to offer new forms of communication to their staff.
