St Albans School Connects Students and Teachers with a SORCE Intranet
St Albans School, founded in 948, is one of the oldest educational foundations in Europe. For over a thousand years, St Albans School has been helping young people achieve academic distinction, learning civilised and humane values and developing their personality and character to allow them to play a leading role in the wider world.
St Albans is now an independent academic day school offering a first rate education in an environment rich in opportunities. Boys enter the school at 11, 13 and 16, girls at 16. There are approximately 770 pupils, taught by over 70 staff. This ratio allows each child to be known and valued as an individual and the School works in partnership with parents for the fulfilment of their children’s potential.
To enhance communication and access to information for both students and teachers, St Albans School has implemented their SORCE-powered sasgateway Intranet throughout the School community. Integrating with existing systems, sasgateway provides a centralised point for a wide range of information: everything from an absence database for staff to the “House scores” for students.
More than an internal website, sasgateway serves as a one-stop-shop for news, events and documents. Although still in its early stages of evolution, future enhancements are planned to expand the departmental and House areas of the site. The School anticipates that sasgateway will offer pupils, staff, governors and eventually parents, an information core which will further enhance the excellence of learning at St Albans School.
