CTC (Cyclists’ Touring Club) keep members on track with the SORCE Intranet

CTC is the UK’s largest and longest established national cycling membership organisation. It was founded in 1878 as the Bicycle Touring Club, subsequently becoming the Cyclists’ Touring Club. In 2003 CTC celebrated 125 years of working for travelling, recreational and utility cycle users. They were the forerunners of the world wide network of cycling, motoring and tourism organisations, many of whom based their services on CTC’s.

Today CTC has over 70,000 members and affiliates encompassing all ages and types of cyclists with elected representation at national and local level. With regional representatives throughout the UK and the recruitment of a large number of new staff who will work away from the main headquarters, the need for a centralised intranet became crucial to maintain accurate communication with both staff and CTC’s volunteers.

Peter Jackson, Deputy Director said: “With our distributed membership base and our continued growth as an organisation, we wanted to implement an intranet that would help facilitate internal communication and also enable us to deliver more accurate information to our staff and volunteers. We chose the SORCE Intranet as it provided us with not only ready made applications (such as document management) but also the ability for us to create custom applications quickly.”

In addition to the standard applications, the new CTC intranet enables accurate and timely answers to questions from its members by capturing information in its knowledgebase application. Questions can be cross referenced with previous answers providing a more accurate response to membership questions.

John Nicklin, Business Development Director at SORCE said: “The SORCE Intranet with a large number of out-of-the-box applications enables CTC to quickly benefit from their intranet. With the ability to easily customise applications, the SORCE Intranet is able to move with their organisation.”
