Stroke Association Improves Charity Communications with SORCE

The Stroke Association is a registered charity that works for a world where there are fewer strokes and all those touched by stroke get the help they need. Each year over 130,000 people in England and Wales have a stroke. In fact, stroke has a greater disability impact than any other medical condition. A quarter of a million people are living with long-term disability as a result of stroke in the UK.

The Stroke Association is the only national charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages. It funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and helps stroke patients and their families directly through its community services. One of the Stroke Association’s stated objectives this year is to improve their internal systems to ensure the best use of their resources. With this aim in mind the Stroke Association is implementing an Intranet to keep all their regional offices and their large network of volunteers fully informed of the latest news, fund-raising initiatives and resources available.

The Stroke Association has selected SORCE as the preferred supplier of their new Intranet. The SORCE Intranet Portal is a pre-packaged solution that can be operational within a few days and delivers over 30 business ready applications that can be tailored to the requirements of the customer.

According to Bryan Wilmot of The Stroke Association, “Last year we raised over £15 million in fund-raising and donations to further the research and communication work of The Stroke Association. We rely on the dynamism of our regional offices, the enthusiasm of our thousands of volunteers and the creativity of everyone involved with the Association to make every penny count. Like any large organisation we rely on IT to improve our productivity. The Intranet that we are developing with the support of SORCE will greatly improve our ability to share information among our regional offices and with our volunteers. It will also enable us to share and replicate initiatives throughout the country and to ensure we make maximum use of the resources available to us.”

John Nicklin, Sales Director at SORCE, commented, “The Stroke Association is a charitable organisation with a strong commercial ethic. They are fighting hard to get stroke recognised as one of the major diseases that impacts the quality of people’s lives and costs the NHS a considerable amount in emergency treatment and patient care. The SORCE Intranet is a solution that will help them knit together their nationwide operations and resources in a single, secure information repository that can be accessed and updated by the users themselves using the easy to use SORCE administration tools.”

Bryan Wilmot at The Stroke Association added, “The SORCE Intranet will also enable the charity to keep on top of the latest financial information and other key performance indicators relating to the charity’s operations. This capability means that we can securely access the latest performance data from anywhere at anytime and keep ourselves constantly in the picture on how we are performing.”
