Sevenoaks District Council provides local government services to a population of over 109,000 residents in an area of Kent in South-east England that covers 142 square miles. The council operates through a network of locations throughout the region, providing IT services to over 450 users and councillors based in local authority offices and working remotely. The district council requires an intranet to manage communication between their employees and to fulfil access to information under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act. The intranet project, code-named SIMON (Sevenoaks Information Online), is being deployed using the SORCE intranet solution.
