Running a requirements gathering workshop

Requirements Gathering Workshops are conducted to collect information to determine the needs of your existing or potential intranet users. These exercises can help you discover what existing intranet users like or dislike about their site. If you are planning a new site these workshops can help identify the type of content your staff want to see.

The objective of these exercises is to discover any issues or areas of frustration staff may have with processes. Identifying these areas will help you understand how an intranet would help staff complete tasks more efficiently.

These workshops can consist of the following exercises:-

  • Card sorting
  • Affinity Diagrams
  • Black Hat Reversal

There is no definitive way of how you go about these exercises. You can choose to do one of them, or all of them, or pick and choose which ones you prefer to use.
